FAMILY ZUMBATOMIC

Day:                Saturdays

Dates:             September 25, October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

Time:               10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Location:         Unique Fitness Studio, 157 Mountain Road

Ages:               8 and older
Fee:                 $55.00 per person

Leader:            Meghan Ballard, Unique Fitness Studio certified instructor

Description:     It’s time to make fitness a family affair with Zumbatomic!  Designed exclusively for children ages 8 and over along with parents.  Zumbatomic classes are rocking’, high-energy fitness-parties packed with specially choreographed, kid-friendly routines and all the music kids and adults love to groove to in a group, like hip-hop, reggaeton, cumbia and more. Parents love Zumbatomic because of the effects it has on kids, increasing focus, self-confidence, boosting metabolism and enhancing coordination.  Zumbatomic rounds out family fitness goals.  Limited enrollment, registration deadline is Wednesday, September 22 and/or when program is full.

 

FAMILY WALK AT THE FARMINGTON CANAL HERITAGE TRAIL

Day:                 Saturday

Date:               October 16     

Time:               1:00-2:30 p.m.
Location:         Farmington Canal Heritage Trail in West Suffield.  Meet near the end of Phelps Road in West Suffield at the Greenway Bridge. 

Grades:           Family
Fee:                 Free.  Must Pre-Register with the Parks and Recreation Dept., 668-3862 by Tuesday, October 12.

                        No on-site registrations will be taken.

Leader:            Mike Stanley

Description:     An easy three mile nature walk along the paved “rails to trails” path across West Suffield to Beaverdam Marsh where we will look at the Fall foliage.  There will be views of the Metacomet Ridge and Manitook Mountain where we may see Ravens and Vultures.  We will look to see what wildlife is in the marsh area.  The Farmington Canal may have more wildlife including fish and ducks, depending on the water level.  Please note:  if inclement weather on October 16, call 668-3862, press 2 for a recorded announcement.  Limited enrollment - registration deadline is Tuesday, October 12 and/or when program is full.  Limited enrollment.

 

LEONIDS METEOR SHOWER STAR PARTY

Day:                Wednesday

Date:               November 17

Time:               7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

Location:         Bruce Park Pavilion

Ages:               Family

Fee:                 $5.00 adults, $3.00 children, under age 3 - Free

Instructor:        Bill Fournier, JPL/NASA Solar System Ambassador.

Description:     Come enjoy the sights above with the Lazy Gazers!  Telescopes will be available for viewing celestial objects.  A short instructional DVD program will be provided.  Meteorites will also be on display.  A great family activity!  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Dress appropriately for this outdoor event.  Limited enrollment - registration deadline is Wednesday, November 10 and/or when program is full.

 

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

All registrations and payment for programs must be received in advance at the Parks and Recreation Office, 230C Mountain Road. Make checks payable to the SUFFIELD PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT. There will be a fee of $10.00 for checks returned by the bank for non-payment. For payments made in cash, we request exact change.

For payments that are mailed in, we recommend you call the office to verify receipt. A mail box is located outside the building for after hours drop off for those customers who need to conduct business before or after our scheduled office hours. Programs are for Suffield residents. Some programs have limited enrollment. The Department reserves the right to set a maximum for each program and to cancel a program due to insufficient enrollment. No unregistered person may attend a program. Your early registration helps us make the decision to run the program.

REFUND POLICY

ALL PROGRAMS ARE BASED ON A LIMITED ENROLLMENT – EITHER DEADLINE DATE OR WHEN PROGRAM IS FULL – Please register early to ensure that you have a spot and that the programs are not canceled. If the Parks & Recreation Office is notified 7 business days prior to the start of the program, all but 25% of the program fee will be refunded. No refunds once program starts. We reserve the right to cancel or consolidate programs based on registrations. Full refunds are given for any canceled programs.
