Spend the day participating in arts and crafts, special events, Red Cross Swim instruction, nature exploration, free swim, sports, recreational games and adventure games that stress team cooperation, acceptance and fun.  Each child should wear sneakers and socks and bring a lunch, snack, bathing suit and towel to camp everyday.  The swimming lessons and open swimming portion of this camp is contingent upon the hiring availability of certified water safety instructors and lifeguards.

This exciting camp program will provide “tweens” with a variety of fun activities at Sunrise Park and adventure games that stress team cooperation, acceptance and fun.  Tweens will also enjoy nature education, crafts, games, swim lessons and free swim time.  Swim lessons and free swim portion of this camp is contingent upon the hiring availability of certified water safety instructors and lifeguards.  Wilderness Experiences Unlimited, will be on site to provide a hands-on education in proper canoeing and safety techniques in and out of the water, canoeing program   will take place on White’s Pond.  New this year, Tweens will visit the Suffield Academy Outdoor Ropes and Challenge Course, where they will experience a variety of adventure elements.  The course is designed to develop self confidence, communication skills and leadership.

 

Each two week session will include:

Session 2 :  July 12 = Canoe Education, July 17 = Suffield Academy Outdoor Leadership Center

Session 3 :  July 31 = Canoe Education, July 26 = Suffield Academy Outdoor Leadership Center

 

We invite parents/guardians to stay a few minutes on the first day of their session to meet the camp staff.

Your child will have an incredible time in this fun and interactive camp. The Kid’s Korner/Morning Munchkins Camp is an enriching program for children who have reached their 3rd birthday by the start of the session enrolled in (proof of age required - must be toilet trained) through those entering 2nd grade. The youngest group of camp is called The Morning Munchkins.  Children are placed in groups according to proximity of age.  Campers will enjoy a variety of activities including:  arts and crafts, parachute play, painting, water days, outdoor and indoor creative play, games, story time, scavenger hunts and family friendly event days.  Each session has a new theme so your child will be captivated all summer long!

 

Session 1: Hooray For USA!
Campers will celebrate the birth of our country while learning about the Summer Olympic games!

 

Session 2:  Seasons of Fun
Campers will participate in a variety of activities from all four seasons including Trick-or-Treating!

 

Session 3: Storybook Theater
Campers will discover the world of books and even put on a skit based on books they have learned about at the end of the session!

 

Parents - please pack your child a snack/water or juice labeled with his or her name for snack time.

This is an active camp.  Children should wear sturdy sneakers.  NO sandals please except on water days!

Enter the fantasy world of imagination where fairies fly and unicorns roam.  Unleash your inner elf as you conjure up fire-breathing dragons, goblins and other fantasy creatures.  Campers experience painting, drawing, print making, journaling, stained glass, ceramics, fabric, clay art and more while creating two and three dimensional works of art.  Fairies and Dragons storytelling is included, as well as surprises and humor.  Fun, fantasy-filled art-ventures.  Limited enrollment.  Registration Deadline is Monday, July 9 and/or when program is full.

BCGS LACROSSE CAMP - entering Grades 4 - 8   Boys or Girls

Fee:            $85.00 per person and includes instruction and skills booklet.

Participants will learn all the fundamental skills, including stick handling, cradling, ground balls, passing, catching and shooting.  For girls, the camp will also focus on no check - no contact game play situations, including 1 v 1 through full team reduced field games.  For boys, some drills and game play situations will include light contact and body position game play.  Instructors:  Suffield and Granby High School Coaches (Jody Bascetta, Sue Clark, Nancy Geaglone, Stephen Sullivan).

Female campers must bring their own; stick, mouth guard, goggles and water bottle each day.  Male campers must bring their own; stick, helmet, mouth guard, gloves, cup and water bottle each day.  Limited enrollment.  Registration deadline is Monday, June 18 and/or when program is full.

 

BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE TENNIS LESSONS - Ages 8 - 10 AND 11 - 15

TENNIS CAMP - Ages 6 - 18 (Coed)

Program includes instruction, supervision, camp tee shirt, equipment except tennis racquet.  Children must bring their own tennis racquet to camp each day.  This camp will be conducted by Conrad McIntire, USPTA & PTR Certified Tennis Pro and staff.   The program will cover fundamentals, drills, footwork, strategy, as well as match play in a fun atmosphere.  Limited enrollment.  Registration deadline is Monday, July 2 and/or when program is full.  *If it is raining on First Day, meet in the Suffield High School Gym.

Program will consist of fun activities that will introduce tots to the sport of tennis.  Children must be toilet-trained.  Special small racquets and balls will be provided for use and net height and court size will be smaller.  The program will be directed by Conrad McIntire, certified tennis instructor with both the USPTA and PTR and staff.  Limited enrollment.  Registration deadline is Monday, July 2 and/or when program is full.

 

HORSEBACK RIDING - Ages 5 - 18

BOB CRESSOTTI’S TEEBALL CLINIC - Ages 4 - 6  (Coed)

BOB CRESSOTTI BASEBALL/SOFTBALL CLINIC - entering Grades 2 - 8 (Coed):

Description:    Your child will have an incredible time while getting fit this summer.  The class will focus on core strength, exercise fundamentals, injury prevention, flexibility in a fun setting.  Games and exciting fitness tools will motivate the children to help improve their fitness level and athletic performance.  Children will also safely use fitness equipment.

Instructor:         Scott Wissel, Co-Director of Basketball World Clinics/NBA Advance Scout for Sacramento Kings, and his Staff.

Children will learn basketball skills, techniques and drills in a fun camp atmosphere.  They will enhance their shooting, dribbling, passing, ball handling, rebounding/blocking out, defense and individual offensive moves, including moving without the ball.  Campers will expand upon their skills and play games.  Balls will be provided on site for children to use.

Description:    Your child will have a blast in our new Zumbatomic class! This enjoyable class is designed for children age seven to eleven.   Zumbatomic classes are fun, high-energy fitness-parties packed with specially choreographed, kid-friendly routines and all the music kids love to groove to in a group. Parents love Zumbatomic help children, increase their focus and self-confidence, boost metabolism and enhancing coordination.  Limited enrollment.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

All registrations and payment for programs must be received in advance at the Parks and Recreation Office, 230C Mountain Road. Make checks payable to the SUFFIELD PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT. There will be a fee of $10.00 for checks returned by the bank for non-payment. For payments made in cash, we request exact change. 

For payments that are mailed in, we recommend you call the office to verify receipt. A mail box is located outside the building for after hours drop off for those customers who need to conduct business before or after our scheduled office hours.

Programs are for Suffield residents and for certain programs, non-residents.  Non-resident registration will be accepted at an additional fee.  Suffield residents will receive first priority in the registration process.  Non-residents may submit payment and registration form and will be accepted on a space available basis, first paid, first served.  Children must be of the correct age or corresponding grade level to participate in programs.  Special considerations may be made for children on a case by case situation.  Programs have limited enrollment.  The Department reserves the right to set a maximum for each program and to cancel a program due to insufficient enrollment. No unregistered person may attend a program. Your early registration helps us make the decision to run the program.

REFUND POLICY

ALL PROGRAMS ARE BASED ON A LIMITED ENROLLMENT – EITHER DEADLINE DATE OR WHEN PROGRAM IS FULL – Please register early to ensure that you have a spot and that the programs are not canceled. If the Parks & Recreation Office is notified 7 business days prior to the start of the program, all but 25% of the program fee will be refunded.  For sports and camps refer to registration form for specific refund policy, for trips refer to trip information.  No refunds once program starts. We reserve the right to cancel or consolidate programs based on registrations. Full refunds are given for any canceled programs.
