The Mini-Bus is transportation provided by the Town of Suffield in conjunction with Greater Hartford Transit. Daily transportation is provided to Suffield residents sixty years or older and permanently handicapped residents. Wheelchair transport is also available.
Transportation is provided, to medical appts., hairdressers, errands in town as well as Enfield Mall shopping and grocery shopping.
In addition transportation is provided to EARC, Felician Sisters Adult Day Care, Dialysis at Johnson Memorial (schedule providing) and programs at the Suffield Senior Center. Monthly out of town shopping trips and lunches are also scheduled and posted on the buses or can be mailed to you at your request.
We observe all town holidays. For inclement weather we follow the same schedule as the Suffield school system. Please listen to WTIC radio for school closings or delays. If in doubt you can call 668-3844 and we will call you as soon as possible.
There is no fee to ride the bus, however an annual donation is requested. The donation request is $35.00 yearly for a single person and $45.00 for a couple. Checks may be made payable to Suffield Mini-Bus.

To Make A Reservation
A recorder services our office 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Reservations should be made before 7:30 a.m. on the day of the request or as soon as you are aware of an appointment.
To cancel reservations please call before 7:30 a.m. on the day of the appointment.
When making reservations please leave your name, address and telephone number. Your reservation should include the destination, day, date and time. We will only confirm appointments upon request. If we are unable to fill a request you will be called.

Monday and Friday A.M.-Grocery shopping to Enfield stores. Pick up is approx. 9:30-10:00 a.m., one hour of shopping in a store of your choice. Medical appointments in Suffield, Enfield, Windsor Locks and Windsor.
Monday early afternoon - Medical appointments in Springfield area.
Tuesday A.M. - Medical appointments and errands in town only.
Wednesday A.M. - In town errands and medical appointments.
Wednesday and Friday early afternoon - Medical appointments to Hartford
Thursday - Enfield Mall Shopping - Two pick-ups.

Reserve Fund
Greater Hartford Transit provides 80% of the cost of buses to the Town of Suffield through Federal funding. The other 20% are the responsibility of the mini-bus. For this purpose the town has set up the Suffield Mini-Bus Reserve Fund, a special account where donations are deposited for the explicit purpose of purchasing new vehicles. To date we are very proud that all the buses we have purchased have been bought with monies in this fund. Tax deductible contributions should specify Suffield Mini-Bus Reserve Fund. |
