11/10/2016 - It is with great sadness that Suffield mourns the loss of Sam Fuller. A beloved "town father", we are forever grateful for his many contributions to our community.

    Samuel S. Fuller

Sam Fuller, who died at home on November 9 at age 93, was the epitome of a town father.  Descended from a prominent Suffield family, he grew up in the family home at Fuller's Corner and lived most of his adult life just a stone's throw south on North Main Street.  Never one to seek power, he was nevertheless appointed or elected to a number of Town commissions and committees.  In addition, he rose to positions of leadership in several other areas in Suffield and the state community, including the Emergency Aid Association, Suffield Academy, the Kent Memorial Library, the Connecticut and Suffield Historical Societies, and his church.  He and his wife Jane were exemplary parents and grandparents and noted for their social generosity, including foster parenthood of a child in need.  After his retirement from the banking business, Sam Fuller's family newsletter grew to a wide circulation and became his motivation for founding The Suffield Observer.  We will all miss him very much.
