    3/2/2018 - Traffic Advisory 3/1/18: Road Closures
    Subject: Suffield emergency services along with Town Department of Public Works responding to multiple locations where trees and wires are down blocking roadways.

    As in many other communities across the state, the Town of Suffield is experiencing many storm related power outages, fallen trees, and downed wires.

    The Suffield Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments, in conjunction with Town of Suffield Emergency Management, have responded to five (5) of since 12:00 noon. As of this time, the following roads are closed:

    • Mountain Road is closed for eastbound traffic from South Grand Street to Sheldon Street. Traffic may travel westbound on Mountain Road.

    • North Stone Street closed in both directions from Oak Street to Colson Street.

    • Phelps Road is closed in both directions from Newgate Road to Old Farms Lane.

    Motorists are directed to avoid these areas and seek alternative routes.

    As can be imagined, Suffield Public Safety Dispatch is being inundated with calls and dispatching emergency services, public works, and others on these storm related emergencies. As always, please contact us immediately for emergencies, downed trees and poles, and downed power lines.

    However, for any resident wanting to inquiry about power outages and/or power restoration, the Suffield Police Department and Town of Suffield Emergency Management request that residents contact Eversource directly so that our Dispatchers can remain focused on emergencies.

    Please contact Eversource directly at or by calling 1-800-286-2000 option 1. In addition to reporting outages, residents may check the current status of outages in Suffield and across the state. Community members may also text power outages to Eversource by texting 2312.

    Suffield public safety services and Emergency Management continue to respond to storm related emergencies and will monitor this storm until its conclusion.
